Latasha was a gentle, kind‑hearted young woman whose presence brought warmth to everyone around her. She was known for her bright smile, her caring nature, and the way she made people feel seen and loved. Whether with family, friends, or anyone who crossed her path, Latasha carried a softness that left a lasting impression. She was full of hope, full of love, and full of life — a beautiful soul whose light touched many.
Latasha’s life was tragically cut short, leaving her family and community heartbroken and searching for answers. Her passing was not just a loss, but a deep wound felt by all who knew her. This space exists to honor her truth, to share who she was beyond the headlines, and to ensure her story is remembered with dignity, compassion, and clarity.
She was just 18 years old — a bright, loving young woman from Southfield Michigan with dreams of becoming a nurse and helping others. On June 4, 2010, while exiting I‑96 at Wyoming Avenue, she was tragically caught in a drive‑by freeway shooting. Her car crashed into a nearby house, and she passed away two days later. She was four months pregnant, carrying a new life she deeply cherished.
Her father, Major Rush, has spent years seeking justice for her and her unborn child. After her death, he moved to Florida but returned to Michigan in 2018 to hold press conferences. Despite his tireless efforts, the case remains unsolved. He continues to describe her as a “sweet, loving young lady” whose dream was to care for others and make a difference in the world.
We are here to keep Latasha’s spirit present, to uplift her name, and to bring awareness to her story. This site serves as a place of remembrance, support, and community — a space where her light continues to shine. Through sharing her story, we hope to inspire connection, healing, and collective strength. Every visit, every message, and every shared memory help keep her presence alive.
Her light lives on in every memory we hold.
